A helicopter shot down from the slum ‘Morro dos Macacos’, as in Iraq or adventure movies, was a great comotion because of its originality among us; as if the crossfires were not everyday events, lived in the daily life of the slums and surrounding areas. The fact, however, had a positive result. Despite the tragedy and the deaths of professionals in service, it called the attention of the general public to a reality that is chronic. On the other hand, it brought a negative element: the belief that the situation only gets worse, which is not quite true, as I will try to say below.
